Postcard Prompts

Tucker’s Postcard Prompt Project

A photo of a loosely-assembled stack of postcards, featuring a variety of images, including a cartoon of sheep jumping over a cat trying to sleep, a black-and-white photograph of a man playing a unique horned instrument, and others.

Every time I see a bag of postcards at the thrift store, I purchase them. This happens more often than you’d think, so I have lots of postcards. I’ve been trying to come up with an idea for them, so I figured I’d try this out. If you are looking for a unique, physical writing prompt, email me your address and I’ll mail you a postcard. On each postcard, I’ll write some sort of challenge (“use these three words in a story” “write a story with a title longer than the story’s body” etc, etc) and I’ll ask that you also use the imagery of the postcard in some way; either as a jumping-off point, or a character concept, so on and so forth.

My email address is tuckerleighty (at) gmail — feel free to drop me a line.

If you’d like to do something in return, feel free to make a donation to No Mas Muertes. Or send me a postcard in return. Or give money to a person who needs it. Or do a random act of kindness. Or tell me a story you like. Whatever you want.

For now, this is U.S. only. But if you’re outside the United States and want to participate, send me a message, and I’ll give you a digital equivalent. If this page is active, this offer is open.
